Introduction

Welcome to Box 1 Blues! I really hope this course is going to give you tools that will help you improve your soloing, and specifically, your improvising.

Improvising is not just showing up and randomly doing something amazing. Improvising takes preparation and practice – exactly the kind that we’re going to be doing in this course. The more you discover how to break riffs down into small pieces and modify them over and over, the more you will be free to express yourself on the guitar, right in the moment.

Take a moment and say hi in the comments below, and if you’re up for it, let me know what you’re hoping this course will do for your guitar playing!

As you go through each section in this course, click on the Mark Complete button on each page, and then you’ll be able to see your progress in the navigation panel.

Hello,

I hope to learn improvisation techniques so that I may play over blues and jazz chords instead of noodling aimlessly.

Hey Jon, couldn’t resist taking on your new course. Still working on tasty riffs and solo’s, but that is a long term endeavor. A lot to learn in that one!
Still recovering from shoulder surgery, but it’s getting a bit better everyday.
Looking forward to digging into this one…Will

Hi, have been strumming chords for a while. Want direction to get going on playing some riffs. Time to solo! Sounds like your course makes it as easy as possible.

Jonathan,

I’ve been soloing for awhile, but I want to increase the number of riffs I can use for the blues. I like to jam along with Eric Clapton blues tracks kind of like guitar karaoke.
